Can you tell a winner?

Discover our superior stainless steels for chemical process industry applications.

Cut costs with stainless steel

Excellent corrosion resistance and no need for maintenance makes stainless steel the winning choice of material for today´s chemical process industry. And due to high strength, you can reduce weight and thickness, meaning less material is needed and fabrication costs are brought down. We are Outokumpu, global leader in stainless steel and your number one choice for sustainability, with the lowest carbon footprint in the industry.

What makes duplex stainless steel ideal for storage tanks?

How does duplex stainless steel differ from other materials? How can you save material and reduce costly downtime? And how can you drive sustainability and reduce CO₂ emissions with Outokumpu's duplex grades?

Discover our selection of stainless steel grades for chemical process industry

Outokumpu offers a variety of duplex and austenitic grades tailor made for the most demanding processes, offering great weldability and formability.

Forta range

Our key Forta duplex grades for chemical process industry:

  • Forta LDX 2101 (UNS S32101)
  • Forta DX 2304 (UNS S32304)
  • Forta EDX 2304 (UNS S32304)
  • Forta DX 2205 (UNS S32205)
  • Forta SDX 2507 (UNS S32750)
  • Forta SDX 100 (UNS S32760)

Duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel combines many of the best properties of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels: high strength, good corrosion resistance and enhanced resistance to stress corrosion cracking. The Forta range covers the strongest stainless steels in our portfolio. These grades enable thinner structures and weight reduction.

Ultra range

Our key Ultra range grades for chemical process industry:

  • Ultra 904L (UNS NO8904)
  • Ultra 254 SMO (UNS S31254)
  • Ultra 6XN (UNS N08926/N08367)
  • Ultra Alloy 825 (UNS N08825)

The Ultra range includes highly alloyed austenitic grades that are designed for extremely corrosive environments. The strength and elongation properties of the Ultra range are similar or better in comparison with conventional austenitic stainless steels. Despite the greater strength of these steels, they offer very good possibilities for forming and welding.
